As part of fair promotion I will be sending a couple of books that I hope that you will read to your class. These books will need to be returned to the fair once you have shared them with your class.
Also, I will be showing the book fair DVD during lunch today. That should be fun.
When classes come to preview the fair I will have wish lists, pencils & chalkboards for them to write on. I will be sending a reminder notice home on Monday or Tuesday. The sign-up sheets for the fair are in the workroom. You can sign up twice, once for preview & once for buying. I will ask that all jackets, purses & backpacks be left in the classroom or outside.
Towards the end of the week I would appreciate it if you would check that the kids have enough money to purchase something & not just a few cents, before you let them come.
Unfortunately, I have to share with you that Scholastic has done away with any discounts for teachers. This is a big bummer. If it were up to me I would give you the world. However, once we exceed $3,000 in sales we will get an extra 5% of the sales. This won't be a problem for our school. I plan to be able to send some of that profit your way.
As soon as the Book Fair is over next week I will be researching landforms with 2nd grade. There will be a special schedule & I will let you know more when I have it worked out.
Guess What!!!! We now have Discovery Streaming in the district. This is an unbelievable resourcs. (SHOOT! I just heard the sprinklers come on & my bathroom rugs were out drying on the patio. I guess they can dry again. Oh well.) I will be giving you the login information for you to create your own account. You can easily download & show media in your classroom using your Aver Key or a projector. Don't be afraid of the projector! You can't hurt it! There is also student access for your class.
I will be in the computer lab on Wednesday after school to help you set up your login if you think you might need help.
