I was unable to circulate books for the days prior to Thanksgiving due to Library Services migrating to a new server, but everyone was able to participate in THE PERFECT THANKSGIVING by Eillen Spinelli. After reading the book classes developed Double Bubble Thinking Maps about the families in the book. Kinder through Fifth grade all made maps of differing difficulties. I was very impressed with the amount of higher level thinking, the vocabulary, and the participation of all the students. If you would like to claim the map your class made & hang it in your classroom, feel free to take it off the wall. Any unclaimed maps will be recycled.
COMING UP NEXT
This week we will have REGULAR SCHEDULE. I am sure that all students are ready for new library books.
Please remind students to bring their books back so they can get new ones. I will print a report that is meant to be a reminder of what is checked out. Students can wait until their library day to return their books.
Next week, Third grade will be researching different Winter Holidays around the world. They will be looking at holidays such as Diwali, Hanukahh, Ramadan & Kwanzaa. They will focus on comprehension & answering questions correctly. They will complete a project in the lab as well. Paige will be helping design the project & teach in the lab. This also means we will have an alternate schedule this next week.
PAIGE WESTER
Paige has done an incredible job in the computer lab teaching & facilitating. She does an excellent job & really loves helping the kids. She is very anxious to help you teach your students in the lab. If you have an idea, she will help you work it out. She will be here to help fourth grade publish their writing in the next couple of weeks & Third grade with their research project. If you would like ideas or actual lessons you can do in the lab be sure to check out her blog. She has featured Rutherford a couple of times, so be sure to take a look.
