Christmas is around the corner, less than 20 days away. Christmas decorations are up & magically sparkling helping to generate the excitement that only a visit from Santa can bring. I hope that you will allow the Library to help you celebrate the season. There are many resources available to you to enhance your teaching. I have resources for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, Chinese New Year and other winter holidays. Most of my books have been relocated to a central location, cart that is located next to my office that is labeled Christmas, Hanukkah & Kwanzaa. If a book you need is checked out let me know & I will locate it for you. I will be looking for online resources that will help in you learning about customs & traditions of the season. I will let you know if I find sources or sites that will be helpful to you.
Remember that you can send your students to the library whenever they need a new book to read. You do not have to make them wait for your scheduled time. Also, I have been very understanding about overdue books this first semester , but I am going have to crack down on students with long overdue books so please remind students that they need to bring their books back in a timely manner.
Students in 3rd -5th really enjoyed completing the google survey last week. There are many ways that this could be used in your classroom. It could easily be used for assessment or to reflect on learning that is taking place in your classrooms. Fourth & Fifth graders are really getting into blogging too. What a great way to encourage quality writing from them. Please let me know if you have any needs for lessons from me on a subject you are teaching or if you need assistance in the computer lab.
