If only this were the truth! I like to think that I have it all under control, but the reality is so very different. Truth be told this year is a struggle for me. I can't get my act together & sometimes I'm not even sure what that act is supposed to be. The beauty of a new year is that you are driven to complete tasks that have been lingering, sometimes for months. Also, the motivation is there for change of habits & establishing new routines. So here I am, trying to tweak the things that go somewhat well & revamp the things that need it.
One of the things that I am really working on is collaboration with teachers. I really feel that the lessons & projects that we did last six weeks were high quality work from teachers & students. We created Keynote Presentations, a VoiceThread with 2nd, Searching data bases in 5th.They were a step to technology becoming a seamless portion of the learning environment. I know that everyone is totally busy, but I hope that you will take a moment to read a QUICK (less than a page) about what collaboration in the library really looks like. Co-Teaching in the Library This is what I would like to see in out library. I hope we can work together to reach this point.
Another thing I really try to do is provide you with tools to use in the classroom. The website that I am sharing with you is a great site for books to read with your class. There are picture books, non-fiction leveled readers, holiday, as well as best sellers. There are almost 200 books to choose from. Another great feature is that you can register with the site & create a personal online library. This site also supports literacy programs & enables you to donate books to the project you choose. Dianna used it with her class the other day to read A Snowy Day. Her kids loved it! Take a minute & add it to your favorites & visit often. http://www.wegivebooks.org/books I think it has some Fables & legends that work well with the next couple of weeks curriculum.
I ran across a great site that has a free app. It is called Show Me. You can create short videos explaining concepts or reviewing material you have already covered using your iPad. I see great potential in this site. I just haven't had the chance to really give it a good look. It says that it turns your iPad into a white board & it allows voice over recording. http://www.showme.com/
Don't forget Change is Good!?!?!? Sometimes we wonder, all we know for sure it that its hard!
