CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK CHANGES

Teachers, you are welcome to check out whatever materials you need from the Library until the school year ends.

The plans for Children's Book Week have changed so be sure to read this post carefully. 

On Monday, for Muffins with Mom or whatever important person students want to bring. Everyone will be given a muffin & be sent to the cafeteria. Please try to arrive early to help greet parents & your class. Someone might need you to be their special person. :) 

On Tuesday & Wednesday these are special dress days. They are meant to be supportive of the STAAR test takers in 5th grade. You might plan to share some of your favorite stories with your students that have been special to you over the years and explain why.

Thursday,we will GET OUR ART ON with a Sidewalk Chalk Art Exhibition. You will need to plan a project with your students. Having a plan in place before Thursday morning will make this activity go better for you.  I will provide each class with 8 pieces of sidewalk chalk.You might consider having your kids create some patterns to trace around to make drawing easier and you might have some other ideas you can share with each other. Mrs. Spilman has made a flyer for you that has some really good tips. I will put this in your box the week before (Pink Paper). Also, I am creating a map of the areas where we will be creating our masterpieces, so that you will know where to go that morning. I will go out the day before & write your name in your square to make finding it easier. We will go out Thursday morning at 8:00 while it is still cool.

Friday will be our Gallery walk. Take your class out to view each others work. Have them take their iPads so that they can vote on different awards. All viewing & voting must be completed by 2:00 so that winners can be announced.
