Monday will be the last day of book fair. The fair has gone well. I am grateful to my volunteers. I see kids picking out good books to read. They really are enjoying the graphic novel format. Often adults are skeptical of this format that it is not really reading, but graphic novels are a great format that can help kids that struggle with comprehension & will often grab a reluctant readers attention. The biggest sellers of the book fair have been Star Wars & Taylor Swift. Of course, the Wimpy Kid Books are still popular.
I will close the books fair around the end of lunch & get the library back to normal. If you have students with money send them at your convenience. I will try to work Monday classes in to other days.
Mockingbird Books are here & we need to get started reading them. I will let you know how we are going to track them as soon as I decide. They are kept in a crate on the front counter by the library cards. Please do not take books & hold on to them for an extended length of time, return them promptly to the library.
First Grade, the dates for our podcast recording are April 13th & April 14th. Perhaps each group could draw an illustration for their podcast. I did not realize we would have to wait that long. Perhaps you could practice every other day to keep it fresh in their minds. (TAKS testing falls in that week in-between.) Also, I need to get permission slips out to your kids for their podcast to be posted.
