Digital Library is LIVE!
Many of you remember when I first became Rutherford's Librarian, I would use the tag line "The Rutherford Library...More Than Books". This week we are taking a step forward to make that statement an even bigger reality. MISD has a virtual library that is going live today! Some of you may be asking, "So what exactly does that mean?" It means that we have a library of digital books that can be checked out any time of day or night to a hand-held device, smart phone, I-Phone, Nook or E-Reader. We have a virtual collection that student's can borrow & that will automatically return itself. This is soo very cool. All you have to do to access this service is to download some free software to you computer, log-in, download, & synch to your device. Then you have a new book to read.
As with any new technology there will be challenges to face. Right now the system doesn't recognize my library ID #. I will get that worked out on Monday & get some books downloaded for you to see.
This is our next step forward into becoming a 21st century Library & district. We are the first school district in North Texas & second in the state to provide this service.
Computer Lab & Library
Fifth Grade is still working on their Colonies research & will be using the computer lab several days this week. Check with Katy Dilday to see if she will be using the lab on your day. I will be off campus on Thursday the 4th, I know I will have a sub for my 3rd grade class but I am not sure about the rest of the day. I will let you know when I hear more.
