Beach Blanket Book Bash

Tuesday April 12
1:30-2:30
Rutherford Park

I hope that you will get really excited about this fun event that is planned for next Tuesday. April 12th is National DEAR day. I hope that you will look on this as great time relax & to have fun reading with your class, for the sheer JOY of reading.

Bring a big blanket for your class to share. Have them bring a towel to  lay out too. If you would like a chair, you can bring one for yourself. & you might want to wear a pair of shades. Right around 1:25  EVERYONE will head outside, set up your blankets & towels, get your books ready and READ!!!!!. How awesome will that be!  It doesn't matter what you are reading as long as you reading & EVERYONE gets to be a part, No matter what you teach or do BE THERE OR BE SQUARE.

For younger grades if you think an hour is too long you can choose some of your favorite books & read aloud to your students part of the time. Another option is if you want, groups of teachers teachers could rotate through the different blankets & share their favorite with each class. (It would be much easier for teachers to move than to have the kids move.) If you have a book that you are reading to your class you could use some of this time to read that book.

The key to success is to be prepared. You need to be sure that your students have plenty to read. Remember this is for pleasure, Students & teachers can read what they like; picture books, magazines, comic books, non-fiction, cook books, novels, audio books, e-books, articles on your laptop. If you have any questions be sure to ask.
