The Stage is Set & the Curtain Has Gone Up
It is hard to believe that we have made it through the starting week of school once again! We have labored to build the sets, our classrooms, the costumes & props are perfect, all those new clothes & school supplies, the scripts are being written & revised, our curriculum & lesson plans. I think we are up for winning the Tony Award for the BEST SCHOOL YEAR.
Our audience is not looking for a dress rehearsal! They know that this is live performance & they are looking for our best performance. I hope that each of us has rehearsed our parts so that we can give each student the very best we have to offer.
I have a few program notes for the next few days.
Computer Lab
You may have already heard that the log-ins in the lab are changing.
K-2 will have a log-in that will change from year to year. Grades 3-5 will log-in using their Gaggle account ID & password.
For the time being we have been asked to wait to use any log-ins because the log-ins are not working correctly. You can still go to the lab, but you will have to plan an activity that uses on of the desktop programs. Workman gathered data with her class & was turning it into a graph when I visited the lab this morning. The kids were loving what they were doing.
When you go into the lab, instruction has been made much easier by installing a projector & a document camera. Computer 11to the left of the projector is where you can demonstrate for your students. The projector makes instruction in the lab so much easier for you & for your kids to follow along.
In the Library
I should have the majority of the library cards made & ready for check out.
I have made an I-Movie about the library procedures to prepare students for check out. Spending time with I-Movie this weekend showed me how it can be used quite easily in the classroom. I am looking forward to working with students to express their creativity.
I would like to try to meet with each grade level as soon as possible. Please send me a couple of times that we can get meet to see what kind of ideas we can come up with to enhance your curriculum. My goal is to meet with everyone by next Tuesday so please send me a couple of times that will work for your grade level. I would like to take this time to explain how I envision my role in your classroom.†
I am in the process of discarding LOTS of books from the non-fiction section of the library. There are some good books that are just too old or did not get checked out because the shelf was so crowded. If you would like a chance to add some of these books to your classroom library come by the library when you have a chance & I will let you look through the carts to see if there is anything you want to take.
